The present work describes research focused on an analysis of determinants
of company effectiveness conducted on a selected sample of Polish stock exchange
companies.
Its aim was to identify the factors which contribute to better results of
particular companies. The research focused on a sample of companies which made their first
listing on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2007. Results of those companies, which entered
the exchange at more or less the same time, vary greatly and in many cases they took
completely routes of progress. Among the 81 2007 IPOs ten were selected which noted the
best tendencies in terms of stock quotes between their first listing and the end of 2008.
The analysis took into account such elements as: ownership structure, composition and
structure of supervisory boards, a company environment and a relationship with that
environment, implemented sales strategies, management of investor relations and company
image in the media.
